tall ships race 2010

The last day of my vacation, I got so lucky that I got to experience the Tall Ships Race of 2010 up close. On the day the ships left the harbor of Kristiansand and set out to the start position, I got inited to follow them on a smaller, motorized boat. Not only were there hundreds, maybe thousand of old piratey looking ships, but Im sure almost 10 000 small and big motorized boats came to follow the ships out to sea. I was a very cool experience and seeing the ships out on the horizon was so beautiful, it sent chills down my spine. The whole time, the theme music to "Pirates of the Caribbean" was playing in my head! HA!

For some reason these pictures all looked very good with boosted color and an antique effect. I was quite nostalgic and very appealing. I would love to see this on a plexiglass print hanging in a maritime cabin by the sea.

The norwegian beauty "Sørlandet". The ships name meaning "southern country" and referring to southern Norway of course. While this ship has its home quarters in Kristiansand in the south, Statsråd Lehmkuhl has its home in Bergen in the west, and Christian Radich in Oslo, the capital.

The last sailboat. Wouldn't they make a great serie on a wall? If you ever get the chance to experience Tall Ships first hand, please brave the motion sickness and do it!
